Update a bit, this drama has 50 episodes in total. Till now, eps 45 is out and it's just a day or 2 that the whole 50 episodes will be available in retail stores.
My review (although I am at episode 20+, but I really just want to skip to the last episode!)
I am very upset actually with the story plot. I am a big fan of Hu Ge (but no, I don't mean like buying his stuffs) but rather, cos I like his Gu Zhuan appearance. In this drama, Hu Ge acts the character by the name of Yi Xiao Chuan who happens to stumble upon a treasure box which he AGAIN happens to get hold of a Key which will unlock the box and bring him and a friend of his, Gao Yao (actually he is also the brother of Xiao Chuan's girlfriend Gao Lan) back to 2000 years ago. So far, everything seems just a coincidence but actually, it's isn't and you will find it out by around episode 20 or even earlier.
Next, (I am just pointing out some things which I find it hard to understand the change lah), Jin Sha act as Lu Su who fall in love with Xiao Chuan and ultimately sacrifice herself to save Xiao Chuan, BUT Xiao Chuan have 0 feeling for her. Then we were brought to the main character Princess Yu Shu where Xiao Chuan falls head over heel for her when she did nothing except choosing to sacrifice herself for the nation. So here is something that's very hard to believe for me. I am not saying that love has got to be because of what but the way the script wrote Xiao Chuan's character is he never really likes any girls (not even his girlfriend in the present) so deeply than the Princess.
And other than being someone who is always at the right place at the right time doing the right time, Xiao Chuan's personality can actually make ALL (and I say ALL) the female characters in the drama falls for him. Seems like the scriptwriter choose to write how history happened because of the ladies around Xiao Chuan. For example, Liu Bang's wife (suddenly forgot her name) likes Xiao Chuan but because Xiao Chuan rejected her, so she choose Liu Bang (in history, the lady is really Liu Bang's wife lah)
Personally I don't like the personality of Xiao Chuan.
Because first, the way the scriptwriter crafted him, his character is one who doesn't want to be part of the serious business but just always happens to get dragged because people around him thought of him as someone very superb.
Second, when his friend Gao Yao gone missing (after they were reunited initially), instead of being concerned about his whereabout, he continued to stick around with how things just goes for him even when he is freed from the imprisonment camp (only vaguely mentioned about "Oh, don't know how Gao Yao is right now")
Third, the way he scolded Gao Yao (when they were reunited in the palace) not wanting to return to present days, which I find it totally weird because just an episode or two before that episode, he confessed that he didn't want to go back because of the Princess (which is why I can't understand why he loved her SO much).
And the story seems like revolved around him which I really cannot tahan to see like how he only want to be with the Princess but he can't because the Princess has become the concubine and then how he suddenly wants to tell every woman the big word N O "NO" when he is quite OPEN in the present days (okay, benefit of doubts, because of Lu Su lah)
